A world full of question marks

As long as the world revolves around growth, innovation will continue to be used to realize this growth; this means that our finite supply of raw materials will be exhausted. In his book Plan 8, John Thackara argues in favour of adopting new goals for mankind to strive towards, goals in which designers play an important part. The British author John Thackara's book In the Bubble was published five years ago. In it he described the role that design has in our complex world and suggested a somewhat holistic approach to improve this. Recently SUN publishers commissioned the five-year-old book to be translated into Dutch, and Thackara took advantage of this opportunity to revise its contents and add some up-to-date chapters.
