The strategies for the planning and realization of major shutdowns in re- fineries and petrochemistry vary consider- ably within the Europoean neighbourhood. Best practice approaches, if at all, are only made within the association of companies. In multi-industrial or multi-national terms, this procedure is limited. Partnership with a main contractor offering on a multi-com- pany or multi-industrial basis provides ac- cess to specialized knowledge and innovative approaches. General contracting for the shutdown planning and realisation will fur- ther optimize shutdown period, occupational safety and costs.
