The global demand for energy is on the rise, especially in developing countries like India. Despite an increased emphasis on renewable energy, conventional fossil fuels continue to dominate the energy mix. Renewable energy sources alone do not offer a path to sustained development for rapidly growing countries. Economic development and poverty alleviation depend on secure and affordable access to reliable energy sources.
