The fate of used electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) has generated great concern worldwide because of its toxicity and growing volume (Saphores, Nixon, Ogunseitan, & Shapiro, 2009; Taha, Salmiaton, & Shaffreza, 2011). Developing countries, especially, have witnessed high rates of inflow of both new and used EEE despite their lack of technological expertise in handling the accompanying wastes at end-of-life (EoL) (Secretariat of the Basel Convention, 2011).
