Queer Ecologies is a very diverse collection of essays addressing an even wider variety of themes, questions and approaches - a collection united by the editors' ambition to demarcate a new sub-discipline, queer ecology, which, as the book's blurb announces, should be 'a powerful corrective to views that equate "natural" with "straight" while "queer" is held to be against nature'. Queer ecology investigates the relationship between the conceptual construc tions of nature and of sex, specifically lgbtq sex (note the new politically correct abbreviation: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer).
