Following consultation with labeling experts with the Federal Trade Commission, EPA has introduced its final required label for use at vehicle service stations selling El5—gasoline containing up to 15 volume percent (vol%) ethanol. The label, which is somewhat simplified from the version EPA proposed, is one of four elements in the Agency's rule to mitigate the potential for putting El 5 into vehicles for which EPA has not approved its use. The mitigation measures were issued in conjunction with EPA's two recent decisions to grant partial waivers that allow the introduction into commerce of El 5 for use in model year (MY) 2001 and newer light-duty motor vehicles (cars, light-duty trucks, and medium-duty passenger vehicles).
