A piece in Politico on 3 October reported that a large majority in the European Parliament had voted in favour of a motion which was critical of the progress that had been made in the Brexit talks; the resolution calling on EU leaders to postpone their assessment of whether the Brexit talks have made sufficient progress to move to the next phase was carried by a majority of 557 to 92 (with 29 abstentions).
