Environmental Philosophy: From Theory to Practice

Overselling this admirable introductory text, the publisher describes it as "the first comprehensive treatment of environmental philosophy." A better referent for that would be Dale Jamieson's edited collection, A Companion to Environmental Philosophy (Maiden, Mass.: Blackwell, 2001), which appeared over ten years ago. But maybe the Jamieson collection doesn't count as a "comprehensive treatment," if that implies a single narrative voice ranging over and tying together a set of distinctly philosophical topics that arise when thinking carefully about environmental issues. On that understanding, another contender would be Andrew Brennan and Y. S. Lo's Understanding Environmental Philosophy (Durham: Acumen, 2010).
