Martin has the opportunity to visit many primary and secondary schools across the county and was able, in general terms, to give an overview of how he has seen this agenda being developed across the county. Secondary schools are slower to make the changes and take on board new initiatives. The key factor in his opinion to driving forward change is the attitude of the head teacher or specific heads of departments and subject leaders. He quoted one school in Kendal where much is happening to move sustainability forward arid described the Head of Science as "passionate" about key aspects of the sustainability agenda. He felt it was harder for secondary leaders and staff to think outside the box' and promote links to other areas of the curriculum.
