Place-based education in the global age: local diversity

摘要

This important book represents the first comprehensive text concerned exclusively with the emerging field of 'place-based education' (PBE). It provides an eclectic mix of theoretical and more practice-oriented chapters which, together, start to map out the territory and potential of a 'significant educational movement' (vii) which has been emerging over the past decade. The central tenet of this 'new' movement is that education and knowledge construction processes and pedagogies should be firmly oriented towards the subtle contingencies and contexualities of particular places.
