The US and five other major nations that fear climate policies will damage economic growth have announced a new pact to fight global warming through the development of clean technology, supplied to the countries in most need. The pact however sets no timetable or targets for emissions reduction and will remain non-binding. Led by the US, the new 'Asia Pacific Partnership for Clean Development and Climate' includes Australia, China, India, South Korea and Japan who between them account for nearly half the world's greenhouse gas emissions. Under this pact they will each be able to set their own domestic goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions individually.
