MEP says EU needs spatial information on environment

A Belgian MEP is recommending that the European Parliament back the main lines of a proposed EU system to provide streamlined and more easily accessible environment information obtained by way of spatial observation. Fredrika Brepoels (Belgium - European People's Party), the Parliament's draftsperson on a proposed framework directive establishing an infrastructure for spatial information in the Community (INSPIRE) is scheduled to put a report on the matter to the assembly on 25 May.
