MEPs have refused to sign off the European Environment Agency (EEA)'s 2010 accounts over cost management and conflict of interest concerns in a 10 May vote on budget discharge. The discharge has now been deferred until October - but could be rejected again - to give the EEA time to put its house in order and to allow time for the European Court of Auditors to produce a report on conflict of interest in EU agencies. The European Parliament also refused to grant discharge to the 2010 budget of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA) over similar concerns.
