Cross border packaging and incineration questions at Environment Council

Controversy over waste looks set to dog the 25 ministers' discussions at next week's Environment Council. The key issues are linked to packaging and incineration in draft conclusions on the thematic strategy on waste prevention and recycling. The biggest sticking point is over the conclusions on incinerators. Some member states, Denmark in particular, are pushing for a focus on implementation of the proximity and self-sufficiency principles when it comes to waste incineration.
