The Czech Republic has come top of the class among new member states for meeting packaging targets reveals the latest data published by the European Commission.rnFigures for 2006 show that the Czech Republic is already meeting its target for 2008, according to the statistics on packaging waste.rnThe Czech Republic's overall recycling rate for 2006 was 63.4 per cent and its specific material recycling rates were 70.5 per cent for glass, 44.3 per cent for plastics, 90.8 per cent for paper and board, 47.1 per cent for metals and 21.2 for wood, shows the data published on DG ESTAT's website earlier this month.
