The aim of the From Genomes to Protective Antigens -Designing Vaccines conference was to provide a forum to discuss the linking of new technologies in genomics, proteomics and associated fields with vaccine discovery. The meeting - the first to cover this topic - attracted approximately 80 attendees, primarily from academia and the vaccine industry. The plenary session speakers were leaders in their respective fields, and largely focused on describing different approaches that begin with a pathogen genome and conclude with a discrete number of antigens to assess as vaccines.
