French ecotax will hit throwaway items

Whether it is disposable nappies, plastic cutlery or drafty houses, if it is environmentally damaging, it has to be taxed. This is the latest offering from French ecology minister, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet. The French government is attempting to craft a new set of taxes with the hope of making the public more environmentally aware. On 14 September, the ecology minister told a French radio station that the government is considering a "picnic tax" on disposable dishes that will encourage people not to use items that can easily be thrown away.
