ECHA members endorse observer code of conduct

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Member States Committee endorsed a code of conduct for observers at its third meeting on 3-4 September in Helsinki. The rules will apply to all meetings of ECHA committees, the Forum and other agency networks. Stemming from the code, ECHA is asking each invited stakeholder organisation to nominate one permanent observer for each body, but will allow nominees to be accompanied by an expert depending on the topic under discussion. ECHA has said that this way stakeholders will be able to contribute to the technical and scientific debate while ensuring continuity.
