ECHA agrees on observer participation for stakeholders

The Management Board of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has agreed on rules of procedure for allowing industry, nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) and other groups to participate as "observers" during the meetings of its various decision taking bodies. According to the decision of the Board last week in Helsinki, large organisations will have to apply to ECHA for observer status. If this is approved, they will be allowed to sit in on meetings and make contributions, except where confidential information is being discussed.
