Ministry must work harder to implement German packaging law, says DSD

Duales System Deutschland GmbH (DSD), Germany's packaging take back scheme, wants the Environment Ministry to demand "consistent implementation of the Packaging Ordinance by the state authorities" - to stop the erosion of the market for packaging disposal close to home. The main aim of the new law is to ensure that all sales packaging should be licensed with a dual system. Although self compliance is supposedly banned under the new amendment (5 th Amendment), published in the Bundesanzeige (Germany's Official Journal) in April, several companies still register just some of their packaging, with the rest ending up in DSD bins.
