Council and Parliament clinch aviation and ETS deal

The Council and European Parliament struck a compromise deal on the proposal to include aviation in the EU emissions trading system on 26 June as EE & PL was going to press. Both an aide to Peter Liese, the centre right MEP that was rapporteur (draftsman) on the proposal, and a Parliament spokesman confirmed that the meeting, which ended at lpm, had produced agreement. However, neither was allowed to reveal details.
