Commission behind on waste statistics, says Dutch MEP

The implementation of the Regulation on waste statistics (1), which came into force at the end of 2002, has suffered several delays. That is the message of Dutch MEP (Independence and Democracy) Hans Blokland, who will present his draft report to the European Parliament Environment Committee next week. The main purpose of his draft report is to bring the Commission proposal up to date with the new "comitology with scrutiny" procedure, where Council and Parliament have a three-month right to review measures, and even veto them, where relevant.
