Companies looking to find the right exchange fora for their substances will be helped with a new system to be operational in a couple of months, Jack Wille, from the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), told the REACH workshop "Final countdown to pre-registration and registration of chemicals" this week. Under the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) regulation, companies first have to pre-register, after that they have to organise themselves into SIEFs (Substance Information Exchange Fora). Cefic has created an information technology (IT) tool to help, as the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) said that submission of a Joint Registration would be the industry's responsibility.
