Don't count on REACH exemptions and pre-register, says Commission

Companies that have applied for their chemical substances to be exempted from REACH registration under Annex IV should still pre-register them, a European Commission official told EE & PL this week. Speaking after the REACH pre-registration workshop in Brussels on 14 April (see further coverage this issue), the official said that of the 68 substances already listed in Annex IV of the REACH regulation, transferred from the previous EU substances regulation, only four have so far been acknowledged as meeting the exemption criteria set by the Commission.
