European Commission Publishes Guidance For Applying for Exemption to REACH Ban

The European Commission Jan. 28 published long-awaited technical guidance on how users of chemicals can apply for exemptions to substance bans imposed under the European Union's REACH law. The guidance, which was originally slated for publication before the end of 2008, relates to substances listed in Annex XIV of REACH (EU Regulation No. 1907/2006 on the registration, evaluation, and authorization of chemicals).
