"Only representatives" (ORs) appointed to register chemical substances on behalf of non-EU manufacturers will have to submit separate registrations for each company they represent, the European Commission announced this week, as part of its pre-registration campaign. Speaking at a REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) workshop co-organised by the Commission and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on 14 April, Otto Linher of DG Enterprise said the change in interpretation followed talks with member states last week. He urged delegates to "spread the message as widely as possible".
