MEP wants biofuels target out of climate and energy package

Admitting he was not a fan of biofuels, Luxembourg Green MEP Claude Turmes wants MEPs to remove the ten per cent biofuel target from the European Commission's climate and energy package. Mr Turmes, who is preparing his report to be presented this spring on the new Commission directive on renewable energy, is also unconvinced by the workability of the "guarantees of origins"(GOs) put forward by the Commission meant to ensure that renewable energy is in fact from a renewable source.
