Ireland to consider higher landfill tax and incineration levy

An increase in landfill taxes and the introduction of a levy on incineration are among the changes likely to be made to waste management in Ireland, the country's Environment Minister announced last week.rnAn international review of waste management policy, commissioned by John Gormley and published on 19 November, suggests an increase in the landfill charges to €30 per tonne by 2010 to €50 in 2011 and €75 in 2012.
