Steel giant Corns has warned that the current economic downturn was likely to impact "heavily" upon the availability of steel packaging waste recovery notes (PRNs), which producers are required to buy to meet targets under the UK's Packaging Waste Regulations. Speaking to an Associate Parliamentary group of MPs on 12 February, David Williams, manager of Corus Steel Packaging Recycling said his company would not buy "any scrap for at least the first six months of this year - certainly no packaging scrap."
