Member States Unhappy With Wfd Targets

The recycling targets in the new waste framework directive (WFD) are a problem for member states, a European Commission official has acknowledged. Speaking during the EU's Sustainable Energy Week, Karolina Fras from DG Environment said the targets were considered "too vague" by member states, which are now discussing the issue with the Commission in comitology. "Member states are unhappy with the targets, not in absolute levels, but because the wording in the WFD is too vague and they are not sure of what falls under the definition," Fras told EE&PL afterwards.
