French industry concerned over revision of carbon tax

Following the ruling last week that the French proposal to introduce a carbon tax would create inequalities, the French government is now busy revising it, raising fears among businesses they will be hurt by changes to the environmental measure.rnThe tax, which was made a pillar of the 2010 budget by President Nicolas Sarkozy, was ruled on 30 December by the Constitutional court to include so many loopholes that some 93 per cent of industrial greenhouse gas emissions, including those from the paper and chemical sectors, would have been exempt.
