Austria: Delay to packaging ordinance continues

The long awaited revision of Austria's packaging ordinance is unlikely to get off the ground until the summer, according to a spokesman from the leading packaging recovery scheme AHstoff Recycling Austria (ARA AG). A meeting is currently planned for the middle of next month. "Negotiations are continuing, we are all waiting for the new law," ARA's Communications Director Christian Mayer told EE&PL. "Talks are going on between the Chamber of Commerce and other chambers here in Austria, and the social partners. We hope that this will be done by the middle of this year, which is what the Austrian parliament said to industry.
