Belgian Interregional Packaging Committee warns against taxation and deposit systems

Economic instruments such as landfill bans, taxation on waste incineration or pay as you throw systems can be very helpful if used properly but also very harmful if not. Similarly, a deposit system on one way beverage packaging would work in some member states but not in others. This was the message of IVCIE, the Belgian Interregional Packaging Committee, which cautioned against imposing the same solution for all member states.
