US manufacturers reduce 2.6 billion kg packaging, surveys say

Fourteen US food, beverage and consumer products companies that participated in two surveys conducted for the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) say that they expect to eliminate four billion pounds (2.6 billion kilos) of packaging waste in the United States by 2020. The 14 companies that participated in both surveys also said that they increased their use of recycled plastics by 49 per cent from 2005 to 2010.
