First UK mixed plastics sorting and processing facility opens

The UK's first sorting and recycling facility for mixed plastics, such as margarine tubs and yoghurt pots, will begin processing this April. The recycling plant in Redcar, Middlesbrough, will have the capacity to reprocess some 20,000 tonnes of hard-to-recycle plastics a year and turn them into products such as paint trays, plant pots, storage boxes, bottles, car parts and office furniture.
