Potocnik pledges action on Naples waste crisis

European Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik last week pledged to do all he could to solve the waste crisis in Italy's Campania region around Naples. During a 25 January question and answer session at the European Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee, Italian Socialist MEP Mario Pirillo had asked for the Commissioner's opinion on what the Italian authorities were doing in Campania. Potocnik said that there were two things that the Campania region needed to do.
