EU to delay tractor emission law

Stringent polluting emission rules that should have applied to tractors from the beginning of the year are to be delayed for at least three years for some models under a proposal that is being rushed through the EU decision making process. The Council is looking at the 13 January Commission proposal - COM(2011)1 - but an explanatory memorandum attached to the proposal makes clear that member states have already given their backing to the delay in the application of so-called IIIB emission standards.
