UK consumers back GM trials, poll finds

UK public opinion is shifting in favour of genetically modified (GM) crop trials, according to a poll carried out for The Independent. The Com Res survey found 64 per cent of respondents in favour when they were asked if they supported GM experiments so that farmers could reduce the amount of pesticides they use, with 27 per cent against, and 9 per cent replying "don't know".
