The European Environment Agency (EEA) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) risk seeing the so-called "discharge" - or approval and signing off- of their 2010 accounts delayed over conflict of interest and cost concerns, after a vote last week by an influential committee of MEPs. The European Parliament's Budgetary Control Committee on 27 March voted to postpone discharge until the two, as well as the European Medicines Agency, had got their houses in order. The decision to postpone the discharge for the EEA in Copenhagen was taken with 16 votes in favour and 10 against. MEPs criticised the fact that from June 2010 to April 2011, EEA Executive Director Jacqueline McGlade, was also a member of the International Advisory Board of the NGO Earthwatch.
