Haug urges MEPs to reject ECHA, EEA and EFSA budget cuts

German Socialist MEP Jutta Haug is calling on the European Parliament to reject any further cuts in the budget for the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Environment Agency (EEA) and Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The call comes in an amendment to a draft opinion that Haug has drawn up on the proposed 2013 budget for Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee (ENVI). The opinion, which ENVI is due to adopt at its 6 September meeting, will feed into Parliament's main report that British Socialist Derek Vaughan and Italian Christian Democrat Giovanni La Via will jointly produce for the Budgets Committee.
