Iowa's bottle deposit scheme looks set to expand, with Senator Joe Bolkcom calling for more beverage containers, including sports energy drinks, water products and flavoured teas to be brought under the nickel deposit requirement. A Senate subcommittee meeting as EE&PL went to press on 13 March will discuss the proposed amendment to Iowa's state's beverage container control law that currently applies to soda, beer, alcoholic beverages and selected other containers.
