Luxembourg: 30 per cent drop in green dot fees for 2012

Luxembourg's green dot scheme Valorlux announced at the end of last year that thanks to changes to the market prices for packaging waste materials, which brought "considerable" revenues to the scheme, the 2012 green dot fees, in contrast to its French neighbour (see story above) will be some 30 per cent less compared to 2011 (see page 10). In its December 2011 newsletter, Valorlux explained that green dot fees have varied greatly since 2009 because of "the significant fluctuations in the selling price of packaging materials collected in the blue bag [for light packaging waste]."
