NGO slams auditors for slating energy efficiency projects

Climate Action Network (CAN Europe) has slammed a recent report by the European Court of Auditors (ECA) for finding that EU energy efficiency projects in the EU are too expensive and have little environmental benefit (see last week's issue for details). Writing on 16 January, Wendel Trio, Director of CAN Europe, criticised the ECA for implying that energy efficiency projects are a waste of money. He said that the report was based on outdated studies and that the real issue at stake is "the lack of oversight on the types of projects that received EU funding during the study period.
