Industry rebuts claims on GM safety uncertainty

Genetically modified (GM) crops are among the most extensively tested foods in history, the UK biotechnology industry has said in response to a claim by a European scientist group that there was no scientific consensus on their safety (see story above), our sister publication Agra Europe reports. The UK's Agricultural Biotechnology Council (ABC) said there is an "overwhelming weight of evidence on safety of GM crops" in response to what it sees as unfair claims on GMOs by the European Network of Scientists for Social and Environmental Responsibility (ENSSER).
