Hedegaard calls to end support to fossil fuels

Divestment fever seems to have reached Brussels -after European Climate Action Commissioner Connie Hedegaard asked development banks to stop supporting fossil fuels in a report published late last month. Lord Nicholas Stern, Chair of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics, and author of the important 'Stern Report' on climate change, Christine Lagarde from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank's Jim Yong Kim have all called to eliminate subsidies doled out to the fossil fuel industry.
