Malta launches consultation on waste management

The Maltese government has launched a public consultation on waste management. The idea is that the consultation will shape the drafting of a new waste management plan to replace the 2010 National Waste Strategy. Speaking on 1 July, Environment Minister Leo Brincat said the consultation was aimed at roping in the public and stakeholders such as local councils, which play a central role in waste management, and to stimulate discussion over a "strategic sector."
