UK denies trying to get round EU energy efficiency directive

The UK's Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has denied claims that it was trying to use loopholes to circumvent the EU's energy efficiency directive. On 13 June, power generation newsletter Power Engineering International (PEI) reported that "the European Commission foiled an attempt by the UK to 'wriggle out' of its energy saving obligations as laid out in the EU's Energy Efficiency Directive (EED)."
