Member states should only receive waste management funds for source separation, says Court

The European Commission should only give money to member states for waste management if this is to be used for separate collection schemes, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) said in its recent report on structural measures funding for municipal waste management projects. The ECA also urged the Commission to improve the EU waste regulatory framework and EU guidelines, notably with waste prevention targets.
