The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has flagged up a looming deadline for companies importing or producing products containing over 0.1 per cent by weight of some seven substances of very high concern (SVHCs) to notify it about the presence of these chemicals. Under article 7 of the REACH chemicals regulation, notification is mandatory for all articles containing more than 0.1 per cent by weight of the SVHCs currently included in the Candidate List. As new SVHCs are added, importers and producers have six months to notify.
