EU Ombudsman rejects three complaints against ECHA

The EU Ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly, has closed three separate complaints against the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), finding no case of maladministration. ECHA said on 23 April that the EU Ombudsman had closed the three complaints and found no maladministration in the agency's activities. Two from 2010 and 2011 involved transparency, the other from 2013 was a recruitment matter. The first complaint (1826/2010/VL) from 2010 was based on what information from registration dossiers can be disclosed under access to document (ATD) requests, where the Ombudsman found that ECHA had applied the rules correctly. Nevertheless, she stressed that ECHA needs to respect a minimum period of five working days when it consults third parties and that national holidays should be taken into account.
